FANS

Fellowship, Acquisitions, Niches and Specialized Projects

My specialty for the last 20+ years has been Special Projects. FANS is what will tie everything together, and support more than just the Film Division or FLUX.

It will work with the GOED programs as well as other Nevada divisions such as Travel Nevada (including the Arts Council and Museums and History) , Department of Education, NSHE Schools, Small Business Admin, Chambers of Commerce and more in large scale collaborative projects. (See HOWL and EGG for examples.)

It will also assist in maintaining and attracting experiential companies to the state.

FANS - Fellowship, Acquisitions, Niches and Specialized projects

Fellowship - an association of people with a shared interest, or a monetary gift for further innovation

Acquisitions - Obtaining items or assets, or the process of gaining a skill or quality.

Niches - a specific group of consumers with unique needs or preferences, or a role / position suited to an underserved industry

Specialized Projects

- oversees projects addressing unique goals, solves problems and addresses non-routine changes

- creates cross-functional synergy between departments in creating new programs and projects

- Directly supports long-term industry growth, improvements and any urgent / emerging needs.

Creating relationships and trusted partnerships is part of the FANS overview. It also involves innovation, hands on experience, and community involvement.

While the Nevada Film Office is focused on film, FANS is focused on fostering other non-gambling forms of entertainment across Nevada.

TERM - Intra-department joint task force within the GOED - helping with relocation programs for specialized talent and small studios / production / experiential companies to help focus on growing the statewide economy through entertainment diversification and education.

United Hands Together

Community Task Force- established once the initial programs are up and running,  Collaborates, pitches and develops entertainment ideas for joint projects and innovation to help move Nevada forward.

FANS - Projects in order of creation

Joint program with offices of the GOED - relocating entertainment businesses and professionals to help jump start Nevada's push toward embracing all forms of entertainment.

TERM - Transitory & Experiential Relocation Management

In short, this is a hands on application and learning  program that starts small and grows over time, focusing on various skill sets needed in the experiential space.  Each phase involves a new state division in a cross promotional and economic stimulation plan. (As well as the interstate task force.)

Also provides opportunities for educational divisions, creates internship opportunities, apprenticeships and experiential industry mentorship.

HOWL - Hands On Workforce Learning

The EGG - Experiential Gaming Group (Incubator)

The Egg is an incubator for interactive gaming of all types (other than casino).  Includes video games played on pc, console, handheld, app, browser, XR (AR, VR, IR), arcade, skill, motion tracking, table top and more.

Includes applications for education, marketing, athletics and more.

The PIT - Production Innovation and Technology

The production innovation and technology program will explore new inroads focusing on audience engagement, lowering production costs without sacrificing quality, and creating new experiences to help lagging ticket sales for live and musical theater in the US (particularly Nevada).

Soft demand results comes from various factors, including pricing pressures and competing for entertainment dollars against venues like the sphere and experiential programming. Consumer trends are changing, and more expensive productions such as Cirque are having a more difficult time competing,

This is especially important for Nevada, since casinos and other venues across the state are running around 35% capacity. (*Note - not all venues, and capacity fluctuates depending on offerings - high end for some theaters is 65%. This is not inclusive of concert sales, sports  and transient Off-Broadway productions).

This downturn is especially concerning, considering the portion of our state’s economy which runs on tourism. It also means countless performers, stage techs, and behind the scenes employees who are residents without new programming to move on to.

Additional planned programs based around other aspects of entertainment including - Animation,  Tabletop & Amusement, Publishing, Comics, Music and Composition, Sports, e-Sports and more. A collaborative program for participating sectors and Nevada residents to participate in a "JAM" session to come up with new programs, offerings and innovations -  focused on a central theme or idea. It's similar to a game jam,  however, it doesn't necessarily involve gaming.
