*FLUX generally means a state of change or transition...it's also used in soldiering to clean out the gunk and help solder flow smoothly...
FLUX (Flexible Learning, Upskilling & Experiential)
FLUX is designed to be a fast responding educational and work force tool adapting to the needs of Nevada residents. It's main goals are :Â

1) Help new and returning students (to the Nevada higher education system) to acquire low to no cost credits the NSHE has already approved as transferable, allowing them to save money on overall tuition, and accelerate their graduation date. Free counselors will be able to help them plan a career path including discussion of various costs and class credit considerations, for the smoothest path forward.Â
2) Design for credit courses for the NSHE system schools, allowing them to "test run" new certifications and degrees in concert with the credit classes they already provide. Each new course will be available for each participating school, free, for two years. Each program will meet NSHE guidelines for transfer credit, and courses will be developed with various staff and departments to ensure compliance (on a contractual basis apart from their NSHE contracts). Participating schools may charge the rate for tuition for these classes (but no fees).

At the end of two years, schools can opt to continue offering the course through flux, or pay to adapt it to their course catalog. After two years, the course will be discontinued to make room for new learning opportunities.Â
Not only does this create a new source of income for the NSHE schools, they will be able to forego the normal costs associated with new coursework, as well as gauge student interest before making a commitment. )

3) Work in conjunction with state and federal job training programs to offer Nevada residents new options for low or no cost training and certification, starting with traditional and experiential entertainment work.

Some classes may require in person instruction or oversight, such as fabrication. For these classes, an instructor or on site assistant will be available. Material fees will be covered by FLUX.Â
4) Create a database of available scholarships (both remote and in person), internships, training opportunities, apprenticeships, grants and more.

Scholarships and internships will not be limited to FLUX participants only. Openings will come directly from companies, from Film Office bonuses, and the FANS TERM program as well as relationships with industry companies.Â
5) Collaborate with FANS and the Film Office for joint projects and events as outlined in complete write up.Â
A prospective list of coursework, descriptions and related degrees are available to Assembly members interested in sponsoring this proposed legislation. We could also incorporate a microcredits program similar to ASU.Â
